Rest and raise funds
The session
Restorative yoga is not about strength at all, but releasing with gravity. We start the session with some gentle yoga moves and breath awareness to release surplus tension, then transition to cushioned and blanketed shapes. You’ll be guided with care to needs.
Suitable for all with basic mobility. The session is all on the floor.
And with vegan souper soup and chat to follow, you will feel thoroughly nourished
you can also bring a tupperware to take away your soup
Special fundraising event
If you’ve heard of Hospiscare, you’re likely living with a life-limiting illness, or be the relative, friend or neighbour of someone with a life-limiting illness. Palliative care is a skilled service that is much needed in Devon. I volunteer with the Hospiscare spiritual care team and have seen the dedication, care and expertise of staff and volunteers, and the difference it makes to patients, families, friends and communities. Services also include monthly Bereavement Teas at venues across Devon.
About Hospiscare from their website:
“As an independent local charity, Hospiscare has been supporting people in Devon living with life-limiting illnesses for over 40 years. We’ve expanded our area over that time and now cover over 1,000 square miles of our county including Exeter and central and east Devon. If you’ve been diagnosed with any type of terminal illness, our expert doctors and nurses are here to help. Our services include support at home, a specialist palliative care ward, outpatients clinics, and supportive therapies. We support close to 2,200 people each year, in some of the hardest times possible. With just c.20% of our funding coming from the NHS, we need to raise around £10 million a year to continue to provide our care, relying on the generous support of local people and communities. Over 500 volunteers and our regular donors and supporters help us to care for people when they’re most in need, no matter what their individual circumstances may be. We’re proud that our care is rated as ‘five star’ by patients and families across Devon and as ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission.”
