You’re invited to an alternative heart-sense this Friday, live on Substack
Heart’s prayer is a really nice translation of sankalpa, the Sanskrit term for vow.
Yoga nidra
The practice of yoga nidra helps you discover or, depending where you are on your journey, tune into and re-affirm your purpose. How would it feel to be aligned with the you you were always meant to be?
Nidra is great for revealing your heart’s prayer in a non-intellectual, non-talky way. Signs and knowing.
💕Friday 14th February 8pm GMT – what’s happening?
After a short introduction, this session involves a few gentle yoga moves and breath to release tension and slow the mindwaves. Then, you lying down, a light touch guided meditation helps further letting go, and to come to the felt sensation of your heart. In this space, very calm, away from societal expectation, awareness arises.
Finishing after about 50 minutes (and hang on for circle and questions if you like)
You will need:
– Somewhere warm and quiet with soft lighting where you can shut the door
– A yoga mat or similar to lie on
– A blanket or duvet over you
– A cushion for your head, and a bolster or other cushions under the backs of your knees
– Perhaps an eye pillow/mask
Afterwards…
…you will likely feel quite dreamy (some people go straight to bed).
Take some time to sit quietly, perhaps with some warm tea. Maybe make some notes in your journal. Should you be driving after, be sure to eat something, sing, chat or do some household tasks to ground yourself. Do something square, like a crossword, or folding blankets (even if it does irritate you in your sensitive state).
About Fiona and nidra
I am a long-experienced facilitator of yoga space, and have been offering yoga nidra for ten years. I offer nidra online, and in person on day and residential retreats at the retreat place she founded in Devon, Viveka Gardens. Nidra is also a valuable tool in coaching, where purpose can be authentically divined, and goals set.
Practising nidra helped me vision VG and continues to inform next steps. Viveka means discernment and nidra helps sort out what is true, what is of God here? Plus, I get an otherworldly feeling of wellbeing and feel re-sourced.
A great side benefit of nidra is often a good night’s sleep. Somehow something is released in the psyche.
Thank you so much for the Yoga Nidra session. I had an amazing sleep last night. I noticed during the nidra that I felt my heart area becoming warm. Maybe this is fanciful on my part! But I went with it and it felt – for the want of a better word – reassuring. Margaret, Cork
The Nidra at end of each lesson enables me to relax deeply and give myself some much needed inner peace. M, Bow
Deeply nourishing workshop thank you. Fiona holds a lovely safe space and executes it impeccably and in a very personable way. Gavin, London

I’ve set it so everyone can join. Shan’t be offended if you subscribe for ease, then unsubscribe but you might like to check out my posts with yoga-faith-life reflections.
If it goes ok, I’ll neaten up the recording and make it a substack post for you to visit later.
