Are you looking to explore yogic breathwork for improved physical and mental wellbeing? Maybe you want to expand your existing yoga practice, or support meditation? This workshop will explain and develop the practice of prananyama.
Prana is the vital force, and pranayama is a range of classic yoga breath and body techniques to develop your energy. Pranayama supports mental focus, balance and resilience, as well as bringing better health in the pulmonary-vascular system.
Read more about the conscious breath and pranayama
In this workshop
- learn about the yogic model of the body
- understand how pranayama supports different systems in the body (pulmonary-vascular, endocrine, neurological, digestive) and tones the vagus nerve
- build a small repertoire of achievable pranayama techniques
- get tips on building a regular practice
- experience how pranayama prepares for meditation
The workshop includes explanation and slides (short powerpoint sent later, you might want to have a notebook handy), gentle yoga to warm up and release some body tension prior to practice, instruction, guided practice and two five-minute meditation practices.
It’s good to approach this workshop with the yogic (diaphragmatic, belly) breath established and to be able to sit cross-legged on a meditation cushion, or have some other stable position (probably on the floor) where the spine can be held tall. Probably you are currently doing, or not so long ago done, a yoga course/class or regular practice.
