18 – 20 September Equinox Yoga & Food Growing Retreat

A warm welcome to the Equinox Yoga & Food Growing Retreat at Viveka Gardens

Yoga and food growing! Earth yourself and feel at one. Enjoy the peace of rural mid-Devon and soak in the prana of nature.

In September the harvest is really coming in: apples, tomatoes, squash, green beans, leaves like spinach, lettuce and kale. And the soil is still warm for sowing and planting out. As in the garden so within: what has fruited, what is the dark harvest (that which hasn’t come to pass) and what next towards the solstice?

With gardening, yoga, yoga nidra, yummy vegan soulfood and just five of us (including Fiona, retreat holder, yoga teacher and gardener) we’ll enjoy the changing season. There will be time for rest and personal reflection too. Plus, who doesn’t like to pick apples?!

What you’ll learn You’ll have a chance to deepen your understanding of yoga and develop some horticultural skills. Seasonal jobs include: sowing, pricking out (yes, that’s an actual term), planting seedlings, harvesting, pruning, weeding and soil preparation. Read Fiona’s blog The Joy of Germination for more about how yoga and food growing come together

Who’s this retreat for? This retreat is for people at mixed levels of yoga experience and options will be given in the class. As ever, maturity in practice is about breath awareness and connection, which will be facilitated whatever the fitness and mobility.

You can also extend your stay with simple B&B or some bespoke sessions

Yogic diet
A yogic diet uplifts and gives energy. We eat fresh, wholesome, delicious vegan food made with mainly local organic veg and organic ingredients. Recipes for prana and read more about the veganyogi diet.

Yoga and food growing
Fiona is both a very experienced yoga teacher and has worked in food growing. As well as having taught the RHS Certificate in Horticulture at London’s Agricultural College, Capel Manor, she co-ordinated a range of growing projects.

Peaceful, inspiring place…The house, yoga studio and food are spectacular! I loved the quiet neighbourhood and beautiful nature all around. Katy, North London
I stayed at Fiona’s yoga farm for just one night, but felt like I’d really found a home and that I’d been there a week. It was so utterly beautiful and had a peace and serenity that meant I slept and slept and woke so refreshed. It was wonderful to meet Fiona too, to be made so welcome, to feel so relaxed, and to have so many fascinating conversations. I will definitely return! R, Oxford

What Fiona has created here is really special! So much thought and wisdom put into making a spiritual and cleansing environment… I felt welcomed and accepted – and left feeling refreshed. Thank you. Jasmine
